"We home host every year because it gives us the opportunity to meet some wonderful young people, who are inspirational and really appreciate a day with a Rotary family to do their washing, sleep and have home cooked meals.”
The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) last night farewelled Board Member, Rob Woolley. Rob was the Rotary Liaison Officer on the NYSF Board for 6 years – two of those as District Governor.
Rob first joined the Rotary Club of Canberra City in 2000 and was President from 2006 – 2007, and District Governor from 2011 – 2012. He joined Rotary to “enjoy fellowship with like-minded people who enjoy ‘Doing Good in the World’ (The Rotary Foundation motto).”
His first exposure to the NYSF was in 2003 when Rob attended an NYSF Rotary Dinner. From 2005 onwards he and wife Beth began home hosting students during the January Year 12 Program.
“Beth and I have attended many of the Rotary dinners and functions over the years. We home host every year because it gives us the opportunity to meet some wonderful young people, who are inspirational and really appreciate a day with a Rotary family to do their washing, sleep and have home cooked meals,” Rob said.
NYSF CEO, Dr Damien Pearce said Rob was a valued member on the NYSF Board.
“The NYSF recognises the significant contribution Rob has made as an NYSF Board member and Rotary volunteer on NYSF programs. We sincerely thank him and wife Beth for their long-standing support of the program and wish them every success for the future.”
Rob said he recognised the importance of supporting our youth and valued his time as an NYSF Board Member.
“Thank you to NYSF Chair Andrew Metcalfe, fellow Board members and NYSF CEO Dr Damien Pearce for the great work you have done in guiding NYSF to be the organisation it is today. It has been a privilege to serve on the Board and I look forward to continuing to support the organisation where I can.”
Rob will be replaced by Mr Ken Hall as the new Rotary Liaison Officer on the NYSF Board.
