We are delighted to announce the Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, as joint Patrons of the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF).
With a distinguished career serving the Australian community in the Royal Australian Army – and as former Chief of the Defence Force, His Excellency has dedicated his career to building Australia’s capabilities. Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley has spent her professional life in education, teaching and mentoring young people in both public and private school systems and in pastoral care services. Their expertise is highly valued by the NYSF, a not-for profit Charity that delivers immersive and transformative youth-led experiences to young Australians to encourage life-long literacy in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). We acknowledge and thank Their Excellencies for the long-time support they have shown the NYSF previously when his Excellency was Governor of NSW.
Andrew Metcalfe AO, Chair of the NYSF Board, welcomed His Excellency and Mrs Hurley as Patrons:

The appointment of Their Excellencies as joint Patrons carries on the valued tradition of the Governor-General serving as Patron of the NYSF. We thank the previous Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Lynne Cosgrove for their recent Patronage of the NYSF.
Their Excellencies join Professor Tanya Monro FAA FTSE FOSA FAIP GAICD, NYSF Science Patron, in supporting the National Youth Science Forum. Tanya is an alumna of the NYSF Year 12 Program and is Chief Defence Scientist of Australia. She is an award-winning Australian Physicist, known internationally for her work in photonics. Tanya works strategically with the NYSF Board to support the scientific and technological excellence that NYSF programs are well known for.
The NYSF is looking forward to working with our Patrons to ensure more young Australians gain a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in STEM and are encouraged to continue studies in these fields.
