The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) rose to the challenges that COVID-19 provided to by completely re-inventing the format of our much-loved flagship event, the NYSF Year 12 Program.
For the first time in 38 years, we delivered the 2021 NYSF Year 12 Program as a predominantly digital, interactive experience. This was coupled with localised, in-person STEM visit hubs over a few days in the middle of the program.
The program was carefully designed to ensure an interactive and immersive experience even if COVID-19 restrictions were introduced in various states and territories.
Participants who couldn’t attend in-person visits didn’t miss out, with an additional 25 digital visits on offer that were designed just like an immersive, in-person experience.
This meant greater diversity and accessibility was provided in terms of NYSF offerings, both in terms of locations and STEM fields.
