Izzy

Hello hello! My name is Izzy, and I am so incredibly excited to be back with the NYSF again as one of your Chief of Staff for 2025 - I would never have dreamed that the program I applied for on a whim when I was 17 would become such a massive part of my life!

Outside of NYSF, I am studying a double degree in Science and Arts, majoring in microbiology and politics & international relations (weird combination, I know!), with a particular interest in treating and controlling infections diseases.

When I'm not studying, you can usually find me enjoying live music, at the beach or baking something to share with my housemates!

My biggest piece of advice for new NYSFers (and anyone, really!) is not to be afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone to make the most of every single opportunity that comes your way. Talk to that person, go to that lecture on a topic you have no idea about, ask that question - you never know what could come from it! The experience, friendship, and knowledge you will gain from the NYSF is truly like nothing else.

Jaz

Hi there! I’m Jazibah Sari, one of the Chiefs of Staff for the 2025 NYSF Year 12 Program, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be back! I’m currently studying Aerospace Engineering (Honours) and Advanced Science (Honours) at UNSW, a combination that allows me to explore my varied interests across the STEM discipline.

When I attended the NYSF as a Year 12 student, it truly widened my perspective—not only on what I love about STEM but also how I could bring different disciplines together.

This program gave me the confidence to explore so much more about myself, from reaching out to my Rotary District to forming lifelong friendships with incredible people from across Australia.

One of the most rewarding parts of my journey has been encouraging younger people to get excited about STEM. The NYSF played a huge part in shaping who I am today, and I’m eager to facilitate this year’s students and help them discover their passions, and maybe even lifelong dreams! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in January!
