CSL’s partnership with Australia's National Youth Science Forum is now in its 13th year. In sponsoring the program, we hope to inspire young people to pursue further education in the sciences.
In January, students from across Victoria - trekking from as far as Warrnambool - were welcomed onsite at Parkville, and given a behind-the-scenes look at STEM careers in action! This included an informative tour of our Fill and Finish Facilities by Tyson Parker, and a historical recap of our >100 year old site.
Senior Scientist Gabriela Brumatti shared her insights with the students into what it’s like to work as a scientist in industry, where it can take you and what her motivations are for working in biomedical research. Recent intern, Mitchell Grogan, also gave the students a grass roots understanding of how on the job experience has been invaluable to him. Mitch's warts-and-all view on academia and STEM careers was a highlight for the students, who found themselves in fits of laughter during his engaging talk.
