“It is pleasing to see that companies such as Toyota recognise the value of education and the importance of encouraging young people to continue to study STEM in Australia.”
The Toyota Community Trust has signed a funding agreement with the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) for $60,000 to support the NYSF 2020 Year 12 Program.
The funding will secure scholarships in the NYSF 2020 Year 12 Program for up to 15 ambitious students in Melbourne’s western suburbs, eager to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, or maths (STEM). The remaining $30,000 will support the activities of the NYSF Year 12 Program for 2020.
The NYSF is pleased to be one of seven charities selected for a STEM Grant through the Toyota Community Trust. The trust was created by Toyota Australia in October of 2017 to honour the legacy of its proud history of local manufacturing in Australia. Toyota Australia sees the value and importance of studying STEM, and aids to remove barriers that may prevent students from doing so.
NYSF CEO, Dr Damien Pearce said the scholarships would provide opportunities to young people who under normal circumstances would not be able to attend the NYSF Year 12 Program.
“Scholarships such as this make a world of difference to these young people who want to pursue a career in science, but are held back for various reasons,” says Dr. Pearce.

The NYSF would like to thank Toyota Community Trust for providing funding to the NYSF and giving students in Melbourne’s western suburbs the opportunity to participate in the NYSF 2020 Year 12 Program.
Students living in the western suburbs of Melbourne who would like to apply for the scholarship should contact NYSF at nysf@nysf.edu.au. Applications for the 2020 NYSF Year 12 Program close 31 May 2019.
